flutter
sitting here,
my memory
unpacks your smile.
bright eyed
i push an invite
in light, to the cold glass
of my window.
their papery arrival
is softer than i can hear;
decorated whispers,
for a night
that belongs to a bending moon.
i tell them about you;
they listen, heads tucked in neat
beneath intricate wings.
whilst I sleep,
they will carry my whispers
in through your window,
unknown miles away.
may i flutter
through your dreaming, tonight.
as you flutter
through mine, by day.
