the lament of the cactus
i see, soft tears
of creamy white,
trembling
from the leaf tips;
pooling for the evening.
witnessed, within
the cusp of my eye,
each heavy tear
left whiter,
by the indigo holler
of night, edging in
beyond the window pane.
within this moment,
slight hours shy
of the poise of the equinox,
life holds itself a moment,
stilled into silence,
by the lament
of the cactus.
