red herring

red herring
a warn-torn tomcat,
9 lives burnt, and lost.
squandered; the cost,
tallied by those left behind
in the dust;
scratching their heads
thorough the eulogy.
my belly, haunts
the earth, looking for
a leafy, last place.
to count the buttons;
lay my face.
i know the names gone,
of 9 lives spent;
eyes and sighs, and
curves; and wishes bent
and none, and turns
away from the light.
lay me down,
leaflight, halflight.
unto the loam
we lie; moments
of movement,
gone by.
