the sound of rutting badgers

the sound of rutting badgers

i am awoken

at 4am,

by the sound of rutting badgers;

their frenzied barking,

and fence-splitting foreplay

loud, in the still September dawn.

this is the twilight time.

when i’d like

to be doing something similar;

with this beautiful

brown-eyed girl,

i’d very much

like to know,

better.

(though perhaps,

with slightly less

damage to the garden)
