My brother's funeral

I watched a funeral today
A man got up and started to talk
He couldn’t help but cry
It was his brother who had died
As he choked on his words
I felt assured that someday
I would share at a brother’s funeral
I do have four of my own
His words kept falling out his mouth
And shattering on the floor
They didn’t paint a picture of the man
But in his tears I could see a reflection
The sun was splitting, fracturing
The tears into infinitesimal mirrors
Through which me might glimpse
This man who is no more
And what will I say
At my brother’s funeral
If I could peel off my skin
I’d show the part that is him
For in the tears of the man
All could see him there, standing
For we all are held part
By those who hold us in their heart
