If a tree falls in a forest, does anyone hear it?
Lately, I have received several “friend requests” from people already connected to my FB page. Some of course are hackers, with ill intent. But many are friends or long standing. I have to wonder if they read any of the many posts that I have made in the last several months. I hear often about something called a “face book derivative.” Whatever that control is, it supposedly limits your contact to some two dozen of the people you most have contact with. If that is true, why do we need face book? The two hundred plus “friends,” that most of us have, will never hear a word from us. Again, if this is true, why do we need face book?
I would be appreciative of any thoughts on the matter, or suggestions for improving readership and communications. Otherwise, maybe we all better start looking around for another vehicle of interactive communications.
I posted the above statement on face book receantly. It gave me pause to think how wonderfully oppopsite the vehicle ABC Tales is. Communications are quickly responded to. Readership is total for those who wish it.And member comments are always helpful to writers. In general, ABC tales is a much more well developed and helpful communications vehicle that face book. And of course, there are none of those many pop up ads on ABC tales, that everyone detests. A salud, ABC tales, for doing such a wonderful job with inter active communications.

Never been interested in joining FB, X or tic toc whatever
Before they came along I communicated on line with people I wanted to talk with, Suits me fine that way.
I'm suppose I'm fundementally against SM mainly because it gives people to chance to insult other people without come back. Doing that face to face takes cajones (which those a--holes on SM don't have)
I guess the closest thing I've got to using Social Media is Waze.

You've brought up lots of
You've brought up lots of good points. Facebook may have been a nice concept at inception, to connect college friends after graduation or during before it became a general public access, and a fortune company. The commercial aspects have encroached on its fun factor for sure. I have my access set to private but I’ve heard that no longer matters. When I connect to friends, I'll use direct messages only; I don’t post on the page and never post pictures. But it’s a shame it can’t just be a private place to converse with friends, without Ads hawking products, agenda driven posts of unconfirmed news and fb’s background bots gathering your statistics…not as much fun to use it these days.
