It is rainy, and a cool 46 degrees today in WNY. The biggest bombshell in the news this morning is that President Trump and wife Melania had tested positive for the Corona Virus. A top aide, Hope Hicks, had also tested positive. Both have been seen together at rallies and meetings in the last few days, without wearing masks. It is mute testimony to that entire question. Medical experts have yet to say whether or not any of them have symptoms that are spreadable or not. Donald Trump is 74 years old and over-weight. All are poor characteristics for dealing with the virus. The first couple plans to sequester themselves for ten days, as per medical protocol. That onset of illness certainly changes the complexion of a very competitive Presidential race immeasurably. Contact tracing will touch all manner of people in Washington D.C. Trump’s illness sucked the oxygen out of the air for almost everything ese in the daily news cycle. Television Clips, of the President advising that the virus would be gone shortly, and others showing him mocking a mask -wearing Joe Biden filled the air waves. Late afternoon reports had Trump and Melania exhibiting only “mild symptoms.”
Even later in the afternoon, a decision was made, by medical staff at the White House, was made to transport the President, via Marine One Helicopter, to Walter Read Memorial Hospital so that he could be more adequately monitored. It sounds like the situation is getting more serious. Elicitations for a speedy recovery have come in from the Bidens, and many world leaders, wishing the Trumps a quick recovery.
The President was ensconced in Walter Reed Hospital for three days, before an apparently restless patient rounded up three secret service men and had them drive him slolwly around the hospital grounds, waving to assembled fans along the roadside. Medcial reports about him are all over the place. Doctors at first reported the president as "doing fine." Then, they advised that his blood had to be "oxygenated twice." And, he was also being fed a cocktail of drugs to ameliorate his condition. No one really knows for sure what the severity of his status is, except the patient and his close staff. And, they are not telling anyone yet. The White House staff did advise that they were contract-tracing some 236 people, who had attended a Trump fund raiser in New Jersey last Wednesday, to check for viral infections. The stock market dipped some, in the last few days, as they do whenever they are uncertain about anything. You need to pay full attention when you are throwing the dice in a crap game.
