The Storm

When all about you is crumbling,
And darkness supplants the Day.
You must reach deep within yourself,
For the resolve and the grit to say,
I will stand in the path of the storm,
Though it howls like a Banshee's wail.
I know it will break and blow around me,
I know this and I will not Fail.
For I have stood here often,
Face against the rain.
It is something I was born to do,
Why, I cannot explain.
Others take the easy road,
And flow with the ebbing tide.
But lose themselves in doing so,
For from yourself, you cannot hide.
What fire doesn't burn, it hardens.
Or, so they always say.
It's just that sometimes I wonder,
“Can I make it one more day?”
