If they ask for a crucifix
I lay my head down;
like a sponge upon my desk.
Or I unwrap a paper to look for a poem...
Shall I paint Palestine with supper's Custard?
perhaps sketch Padre Pio with Dust from his bones?
I will travel to the Vatican.
Take a picture of the Pope.
"He's baptising a Muslim at noon, you know".
And Richard Dawkins is laughing,
a harsh bark below.
prayers drift up also.
Spoken. Very. Slow...
On my fence I see further
than the grass on the ground
I gaze and I ponder, the curve of the Earth;
and the Oak's growth as well.
My only stress left,
is the style of my new painting.
When painting the cloud's milky flow,
Da Vinci? Or Michelangelo?

This is really, really excellent. I love it. My favourite lines are 'I lay my head down; like a sponge upon my desk'. AND - so brilliant - 'prayers drift up also. Spoken. Very. Slow'. Worked so well. The only line I didn't entirely get was 'Or I unwrap a paper to look for a poem' - in the context, I mean. I know you'll have some reason for it though which you can point out to me.
Exceptionally good.

Hey keleph, I liked this. I'm guessing you seen Padre Pio's "exhibit" in the media too? Some very good imagery, particularly your description of the clouds. Oh yeah, go with Michelangelo. He's much better even though he doesn't have a Code!

Hi Kelpeph,
this is the first thing of yours I've read and I really like it. I'm with Doeslittle on my favourite lines. I didn't get the supper's Custard reference though...
