SADNESS:
Sadness comes from many things
It comes to paupers and likewise kings,
The king has no children, no son to succeed
The pauper has more than he's able to feed;
The priest is brought low by the sins of his flock
The judge by the people who pass through her dock,
The young girl who weeps 'cause she isn't size eight
The middle aged man 'cause he can't get a date.
MADNESS:
Madness comes from many things
It comes to paupers and likewise kings,
The king through inbreeding, his bloodline grown thin
The beggar's mind warped by the drugs he takes in;
The man on the ledge who is seeking escape
The captive subjected to torture and rape,
The elderly lady whose mind has grown dim
The young anorexic who still wants to slim.
BADNESS:
Badness comes from many things
It comes to paupers and likewise kings,
The king mad with power, his evil complete
The man who steals to make ends meet;
The girl led astray by kids at school
The boy with the father who breaks every rule,
The child once bullied who bullies in turn
The unemployed loafer, with spare time to burn.
GLADNESS:
Gladness comes from many things
It comes to paupers and likewise kings,
The king in the knowledge his people are free
The peasant content with his own family;
The young couple buying their very first home
The prisoner pardoned and now free to roam,
The elderly man looking back at his life
The middle aged man with two kids and one wife.
SADNESS, MADNESS, BADNESS & GLADNESS
Differing behaviours from differing things
Yet each comes to paupers and likewise to kings,
Different beginnings and different fates
Yet each brought together by united states.
