THE WIZARD QUINTET PART 4 - THE ETERNAL WIZARD

High upon the desolate fells
Stands a tower of age worn stone,
Wherein an ancient wizard dwells
Condemned to live alone.
A crystal wreathed in rainbow light
Is cradled in one agéd hand,
Within its depths he guides his sight
And visions unfurl of the land.
As countless years have spiralled by
The crystal has shown many things,
It showed him a dragon arage in the sky
Nigh a realm ruled by mere mortal kings.
All appeared lost till the wizard he came
And bravely he vanquished their foe,
Though for a while they lauded his name
How that now seems a long age ago.
For time has moved on, the mem'ries have died
And thoughts of the wizard are few,
His magic forgotten 'neath Man's foolish pride
In a world ruled by all that is new.
Yet ever he dwells in his tower of stone
Eternal he watches the land,
Unthanked and forgotten, outcast and alone
'Twixt Man and his doom he shall stand.
