An unexpected meeting

You came to me one night 
Fierce as a lion
Ready for battle

Your cloak was blue and as soft as a babies blanket
But underneath was the majesty of all creation
Endless expanses filled with stars unknown
Your eyes shone through me as the ball of flames burned bright 

I had only been outside on this beautiful night
In the mountains of this desert I reside 
Lying with my back to my earth resting from a hard days work
Wondering about the sky above and the love I have for it

Thats when you arrived
You seemed human
You walked on two feet wading through the windy night
Your arms to your side respecting the things you knew so well

But it was your eyes
The blue balls of fire that glowed with power
They beckoned me forward with their knowledge
And I grinned in glee
Happy to face the challenge

That night my world shook
As we threw fists at each other
Wrestling with the weight of our resolves
Circling what looked like both of our last battles

I met you with all that I am
All that I was
And all that I would be
A pride in myself I had to earn
A stride in my step that I used to fear
I met you with all the knowledge of who I am
And the knowledge I left behind knowing it would not serve me

You stood with your back straight holding everything that could be
Everything that would be
You were everything
As I see it now
All expanding 
Ever-reaching
indeterminable
You seemed all powerful

Yet through our fight
Through our struggle to the first mornings light
You were no more

You laid on the ground unmoving
Your body still filled with the universe
Still a garden for all the stars to play around in
But the burning flames of your eyes had gone out

I had won
Bested you in the dessert night
The creature that came for a fight

Tears stain my cheek as I look onto you
Tears I dont understand
I do not understand why they fall
When I look to you 

Finding you on the floor
Something inside me has lost
It grieves for the way things turned out to be
Im holding onto the last vestiges of your body before they disapear
Cradling the entity that understood the real me

But look at me
I have won
I have defeated the unknown
