The Far Shore

I have come to the far shore of life
And slipped into a peaceful place
No troubles plague me
No pain claims my once mortal body
Now, I have only lightness
My steps do not falter
My mind is not troubled
Though I know those I have left behind
Will miss me, I hope they do not mourn
I am in a far, far better state
Remember me not with sadness
Instead, celebrate my life
I know that because my life has touched others
The world will be a different place without me
But, it is the order of things
Life’s one certainty
So when the bell tolls
Do not make it mournful peals
Let it ring in joyful celebration
Of a life lived to the fullest
Knowing my life had enough love and laughter
Friendship and enjoyment
And yes, even heart ache and pain
To have made my life on earth worth living
I tried to make every day count
Knowing- as you should
That all our days are numbered
Accepting as has been said before
There is a time to live
And a time to die
And a time for every purpose
But for now you must carry on
Until in the fullness of time
You will join me on that far shore
