The Little Woman

Yes, I am quite proud of her, the little woman
She doesn’t much like it when I call her that
But I do think it fits, she’s kept herself quite well
Always looks nice, a true credit to me
“Dear, could you bring us some coffee in here?
We’re having a good chat, that’s a good girl”
Throws a good dinner party too
Been very helpful with my position
Even though she’s never really worked herself
She just keeps busy around the house
Doing her little projects, did a great job
Raising our children, they are a credit to us
Never in trouble, going to the right schools
“Dear, what schools did the kids go to?
Yes, that’s the ones, did well there, too, they did.”
Of course I was busy when they were growing up
So she took them to their little sports games
Was good for her, I encouraged it
And it let me get on with work, eh?
I did have to buy her a car, I picked it out
A nice sensible one for her and the kids
“Dear, what was the name of that car I got you? Oh, yes
That’s it, as I said a nice sensible one. Very economical.”
Got them where they needed to go
To the shops and stuff when they needed
Always made sure she had her spending money
Can’t let a lady go with out a few geegaws, can I?
“Dear, you have some cake to go with that? Oh you do,
Be a good girl and bring us some will you?’’
Now, I can’t say she’s one to discuss business with
You know how it is, they just can’t be bothered
Gets on with her charity work though
Keeps her busy and she seems to like it.
But not real work, you know.
No need for her to work
I provide her with everything she needs.
“Dear, who’s that at the door? What’s that you say?
It’s a man, and he’s come to take you where?
What do you mean you won’t be back?
But, but …. You’re my little woman!”
