The Many Faces of Men

Men, how do we see you?
Let us count the ways!
We see you as a friend
A mate, a buddy.
A strong back
To move furniture
If the occasion arises
Fixer of cars
And things mechanical
Sharers of pizza and beer
And brownies
If you’re lucky
We see you as fathers, brothers
Cousins, loving relatives
Trusted confidants
Annoying pests,
Baines of our young lives
Heart throbs of our teen years
Breakers of hearts or
The constant in our lives
As we grow old together
We see you as co-workers
Bosses, sharers of a work place
In which we pass and re-pass
The office clown or
The guy with the cute tush
Over in the next department
Not that we notice, of course.
Men, how do we see thee?
In many ways and many phases
Fellow human beings
That sometimes
We’d like to live without
But most of the time
We like being with
We’re not sure
We understand you
And we’re pretty sure
You don’t understand us – but
Vive la differénce!
