Who can say where the river flows
What keeps it out or keeps it in
I think it goes where it wants to go
Irregardless of the plans of men
Who can say where the river ends
Where the horizon meets the sky
Or, is it just around the bend
That it finally says goodbye.
Who plots the path, the highs and lows
Of the watery, meandering fence
Showing us where it comes and goes
And has been every since.

I liked this poem it seemed
I liked this poem it seemed to flow gently like a relaxed river should :O)
I wondered if you were married to the last line of the middle stanza...
Who can say where the river ends
Where the horizon meets the sky
Or, is it just around the bend
That it finally says goodbye.

I think it is a bit better
I think it is a bit better LG...
but I'm wondering if the 'Who' and the 'Where' might be complemented by 'When'.
Would that work - 'When it finally says goodbye'?
