River Walk

The river came out for a walk today
It left the banks and headed up the steps.
I guess it’s allowed,
The area is called River Walk
And there is no sign that says
'No river allowed'
But the authorities get concerned
They post signs to keep the people out
(but not the river in)
I don’t know what they are worried about
It’s only a little river and it usually behaves itself
They don’t need to give it an ASBO
Well perhaps not yet…..

The gentle humour in this made me smile. Hope that little river behaves itself and doesn't dream of being a lake

Hi, it didn't become a lake but it did appear it was going to get in a few stores along the river walk a while back, which is what gave me the idea to write of it. Thanks so much for your comment!

I'm afraid I'm a practical fellow, and I used to walk beside the Thames as part of the 'Walking for your health scheme.' Can't do it now ,so I eat chocolate instead. You have read my poem about the results! Thanks for you interest. I see you were a teacher, try my Jennifer Jane children's stories, you can mark me for punctuation etc.(No detentions please)
