Little Things (Excuses)

An empty tub of margarine
is sitting in our fridge,
its insides have been scraped so clean,
there’s not the slightest squidge,
of creamy yellow anywhere,
I mean it – not a smidge.

I know because I did this thing,
though you might wonder why.
It should be in recycling,
(well that I can’t deny).
But sometimes I obey the rules,
and sometimes I defy.

Then there’s all the other ways,
I manage to annoy you,
like when I forget your birthday,
or the seat’s up in the loo.
What can I say, I’m just a man,
These are the things I do.

PS.

I know I said there’s enough milk left in the carton in the fridge to make a cup of tea but there probably isn’t. And even if there was, I’d probably open a fresh carton instead...and still leave the empty one in there.  xxx
