Scene 1-in room, all party decorated, everyone in formal expensive clothes.

(Song Dancing)

Jack- Wow Ryan, this is an amazing party.

Ryan- Thank you, I’m surprised myself.

Jack- I never thought formal was your style.

Ryan- Me too, but when Roxy suggested it, I thought why not.

Steve- Hey, cool party, I love formal wear, don’t you?

Joe- Urrrm, yeah anyway, cool party.

Ryan- I swear there’s something wrong with Steve.

Jack- Yeah I know, so Roxy?

Ryan- What about her?

Jack- Well you’ve been spending a lot of time together lately.

Ryan- Urrrm, yeah and…?

Jack- You know…

Ryan- Listen Jack there is nothing going on between Roxy and me, at least not yet. Is that a problem?

Jack- No, urrrm it’s not.

(Abi walks over)

Abi- Look good!

Jack- Why?

Abi- (sighs) Because Roxy’s coming, that’s why, you idiot!

(Roxy walks over)

Roxy- Hi Ryan, hey Abi and urrrm…

Jack- Jack.

Roxy- Right, so anyway, Ryan I hear there’s gonna be a talent show next year and, as always, I will win. (Giggles)

Abi- (Elbowing Jack into Ryan. Giggles)

Roxy- So I was thinking, I might go for a change this year.

Ryan- What do you mean?

Jack- (Hopeful) You’re not performing?

Abi- Ha! No way, it would be awful for the Kelly family’s tradition to be ruined.

Roxy- Thank you Abi for telling…

Jack- Jack, I’m Jack.

Roxy- Got it. But anyway, I am, of course, performing but I thought-

Abi- (Cuts in) We thought?

Roxy- I thought you and me could perform.

Ryan- What, you and me onstage, singing?

Abi- And dancing!

Roxy- Yeah, so what do you think?

Ryan- Urrrm…sure.

Roxy- Great! I’ll spend all summer choosing a song. Yey!

(Roxy and Abi walk off)

Jack- What? The show isn’t for another six months!

Ryan- I’m sorry. I didn’t want to disappoint her. Hey, why am I saying sorry? She’s single!

(Showing everyone out)

Ryan- Bye! Thank you for coming. Happy birthday. Have a good summer, bye.

Ryan’s dad- I heard about the talent show.

Ryan- Dad you promised to stay upstairs, and who told you about the show?

Ryan’s dad- A little fly, called Abi.

Ryan- It’s complicated.

Ryan’s dad- You know, you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do.

Ryan- Dad-

Ryan’s dad- (Cuts in) Because I can tell this Roxy…

Ryan- What? No way dad, no way!

Ryan’s dad- Come here.

(Ryan’s dad tries to hug him)

Ryan- Don’t dad. Just don’t

(They walk off together)
