I don't wanna be alone.

It was usually dark out tonight. The sky was painted black, the moon tucked behind a thick gray cloud. The occasionally star could be seen if you squinted. Waves crashed into the shore, resting for a bittersweet second, then were dragged back out to sea. Slow sudden gushes of a light wind would swish past. Four sets of footprints on the sand were slowing being eaten away by the jealous waves. I sneak a glance at Adam's face as he picked up sand and let it trickle out of his hand. The look of betrayal was still etched in his face. His eyes were clouded by confusion and pain. I tried to imagine what he could be thinking. I closed my eyes and tried to picture it. His comes home from the surf shack, tired from his summer job and ready to go see his mom at the hospital. Walking in the house he hears girly snickers, he assumes its outside, having a house on the beach has its disadvantages. He stands in the doorway of the kitchen completely shocked at the sight he is seeing. His father had his back to Adam and is locked in a passionate trance with none other than my mother. His fathers hands go places that made Adam's stomach turn, all he could picture was his weak mother hearing this news and dying of a broken heart instead of cancer. Without a word Adam leaves the house, drives over two blocks and picks me up. Calling his mom and making an excuse that he has to work an extra shift so he can't come see her. We walked on the beach for awhile, when Adam told me what he saw I started crying. I couldn't even fathom how my mother could do that to my dad. General Louis Potts is overseas fighting for our freedom while my skank mom screws my bestfriends dad.
“He's an asshole.” Whispered Adam throwing a shell toward the angry waves.
“She's a slut.” I whispered back sadly.
“I hate them.” he declared. I nodded. Adam dug his fist into the sand and bit his lip. I reached for his hand and held it tightly. “What are we going to do?” I asked.
“Well I can't tell my mom...” Adam's voice was a little choked up. “She'll...God Lucy... What are we going to do?”
I thought about this for awhile. My father always considered my mom his soulmate if he found about this he'd probably throw himself into the line of fire. And Adam's mother was growing weaker by the day, hearing this would kill her. I rested my head on his shoulder. Inhaling a deep breath I answered: “Act like we don't know.”
He sighed frustrated. “I really hate him.”
“I really hate her.” I sat back up. “If..something happens to your mom, when my dad gets back you can stay with us.” I offered a small smile.
His lips formed a half smile and he leaned in ever so slightly and pecked my lips very lightly.
“Thanks,” he whispered, I put my head back on his shoulder. “It's getting late.”
“I know.” I said watching the waves crash and pull back. Crash and pull back.
“We should go home.” He stated sadly.
“Yeah.. we should.” I didn't move my head from his shoulder. “But I don't wanna be alone.”
Sighing, Adam nodded. “Me either.”
