Calcium

My ribs are aching as they rattle in my chest
Snap, crackle, breakfast cereal
That never makes it past my boneyard
Maybe I should just put away the milk and tidy up my crumbs
'Cause stomach acid burns while my brain hum hums
So I pray to God
And hope I can change
But I know that I’m always going to be the same
'Cause my brittle nails crack against my rosary
And lightning never strikes the same place twice
Unless that place is me
My bathroom mirror reflects a ghost
Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary
It’s
just
me
Whiter than my nicotine and red wine-stained pearls
Sapphires used to gleam back at me
But now the only brilliant blue that I can see
Is hiding in the depths of my periphery
So I pray to God
And hope I can change
But I know that I’m always going to be the same
Cause my brittle nails crack against my rosary
And lightning never strikes the same place twice
Unless that place is me
