BASIL

She Tended the pot so carefully,
The Basil so fragrant and lush
Admired by all who passed it by –
When they weren’t in a businesslike rush.
The argument the week before
When she found her man had been
Screwing around with another girl
Was really something to be seen.
She swiped him with her garden spade –
But was shocked when he dropped dead
Especially when she realised
She’d severed his cheating head!
It landed right next to her feet
After bouncing round the floor
She stuffed it quickly into a pot
Prepared the night
before.
All ready for her basil plants –
Now it came in very useful
And she rolled the body into a trench –
She was nothing if not resourceful.
The pot was kept on a sunny ledge
And one day followed another
Until she knocked it over the edge –
And it killed her lover – called Basil.
