C - The Stranger

Blue green eyes and dark black hair
Wandering in alone from somewhere
What answers do those lips hold?
Should I remain meek or become bold
Will I look too needy or appear trite
Will he simply look at me and say goodnight
Is it worth exposing myself to gain this man's favor?
Or will I look the fool with only a fantasy to savor?
I summon up my courage and march over to him
He looks me up and down and sports a small grin
I draw a deep breath to begin my refrain,
I figure nothing ventured, nothing gained.

"How would you like to buy magazines?
Five for $10.00, and more than you've ever seen.
I've got automotive mags, Field and Stream
Women's, children's and men's magazines.
How many will you take, I'll write it on this form
You look like a Hot Rod man, am I getting warm?
I'm surprised you want all ten of these
Thank you kindly, I hope you'll be pleased."
As I walk away I think, 'He was really sweet,
Even if he ordered Needlepoint and The World of Meat.'
Alas, dear reader, it was not what you thought
I only wanted to sell all those magazines he bought.
Ha!
