Ode to Elijah

I drink in his wonder
Marvel at his intense enthusiasm
Know his boundless joy
Revel in his pride
Build him up to stand tall
Hold him in times of sadness
Comfort him in despair
Allay his fears
Answer every question known to man
Aleve his curiosity
Defend him always
Listen to his dreams
Discipline him when I must
For he is my son
He contains the light,
Wonder, joy, and beauty of my life.

I wrote this for my wonderful young son, who is just discovering what
the world is about. He is four now and his curiosity knows no limits.
He is the most amazing little person I know. Children are a joy and
gift from the Lord. I have been truly blessed to have this little
person be a part of my life. I give thanks for him everyday.
