I'm an old woman now
My nails are brittle and my bones ache
But my memory is sharp
I once turned heads, in my youth
He thought I was a beauty, none to compare
We were married on a spring day
Tossing the bouquet and with it my girlhood
Many years and children later
I recall how difficult he made my life at times
I remember his sweet proposal
I know how he was with our grandchildren
The laughter and joy it has all brought me
I say, "I'm so glad he asked me to marry him."
