Emptiness

In these darkly hallowed halls I wander;
I search for the relief so vaguely offered.
I try to remember the promise you failed too keep,
and I fail to summon the will to press on and prevail.
To choose; Stand by me or stand against me.
Neither option provides glorious outcome;
The paths we walk return only in empty promises.
Be it promises of retribution or of understanding.
When all is dark and empty, a journey is undertaken;
The quest to bring light to that empty space,
and the mission to fill that light with purging curiosity.
In that vast space between us, which no man truly rules,
And no man's understanding of reality exists,
Reality is merely one's own perception.
The way you understand it is the way it chooses to exist.
So, in this vast space between us, of empty promises.
In this vast space you seek to fill with light,
and bring curiosity to these dead plains;
You must make the final choice.
Will you stand with me, or against me?
