The Fool

I’m a teenage stereotype
I’m a capitalist queen
I’ll keep smoking and drinking
because it’s not cool to be clean
I don’t care about conscience
I don’t care about rules
I’ll keep up with the next trend
because I’m everybody’s fool.
I’ll believe what they say
and I’ll buy what they sell
be it a personal heaven
or my own personal hell
I’ll keep puking up my food
because it pays to be thin
I’ll be endorsed by the media
and let them drench me in sin.
Let them give me a price
as long as I make them the money
they don’t care if I’m clever
they don’t care if I’m funny
And when I’m no longer a teen
and I have lines under my eyes
I’ll be replaced with someone younger
who can keep up with the lies
Now I’m no longer their stereotype
or their capitalist queen
and all the money and the fame
now all seem like a dream
So I’ll drink away my troubles
and maybe snort too much cocaine
they’ll find me dead in my hotel room
and make me an icon for my shame
‘Cause they don’t care about conscience
and they don’t care about rules
and they’ll profit from my martyrdom
here lies everybody’s fool.
