40 Degrees

The temperature hits 40
degrees centigrade.
It is even too hot
to sit in the shade.
I pity poor Willy,
not usually a wimp,
who’s ashen-faced
and rather limp.
He dreams of Rosie,
of sharing cider,
and wishes the girl
would be a bit wilder.
He thinks she is
a frozen glacier
and doesn’t realise
that he fancies her.
But he’s mistaken.
If he only knew
that what he fears
is not at all true.
She’s a volcano
bubbling and boiling
who wonders why
he’s always recoiling.
But she has to show
that she’s not frigid
and his attitude
has to be less rigid.
It will take some nous
but they will discover
that by being open
they’ll be better lovers.
