The Ball Is In My Court

Edson Arantes do Nascimento,
the hero of the beautiful game,
was known to all football fans
by a completely different name.

Pelé was the famous moniker;
the one the fans knew him by
but how it came into existence
no one seems to know why.

I did some research and found
a tenuous and flimsy analogy
between him and a branch
of geology called volcanology.

In the Hawaiian mythology, Pele
is the deity of volcanic fires
and perhaps he's similarly called
as on the pitch he was a live wire.

The analogy does not end there.
Attributes they have in common
are unending passion and power
and the fluency both can summon.

Yet not all their traits are equal:
and certain aspect are different,
while his demeanour is controlled
she has a volatile temperament.

After reading this, I'm perplexed
and I'm faced by a predicament:
whether I should choose soccer
or science to be my employment.
