Cats and Dogs

Dear Helen and Fred,
thanks for the postcard
in which you said
you were having fun
on golden-sand beaches
blessed by the sun
and wishing we were there.
 
We too share that wish
as our weather is dismal
and only fit for a fish.
It has rained cats and dogs
for a fortnight now
but we are resilient
and we’ll manage somehow.
 
What makes it worse
are the buffeting winds
that batter the coast.
The danger to our shore
becomes quite acute;
trying to stop the tide
was tried by Canute
 
but as we all know
he didn’t succeed
and he had to give up
as it was a no go.
Should we now contemplate
packing our bags
and emigrate?

…Those postcards can be a bit frustrating, can't they! and what different problems would we have to put up with if we emigrate I wonder?! Liked your picture.

I was trying to remember one I did about raining cats and dogs and the Welsh equivalent, and found it and note that the IP that week was to do a meteorological theme. It was in July 2015. Rhiannon

Weatherwise we must be careful that in our quest for sunshine we don't go the other extreme and find a place with an exessive heat..I looked up your submission and learned that in Wales it can rain knives and forks. Very amusing.
