Geoffrey is playing
The organ tonight;
What a relief.
The congregation,
In the last fortnight,
Has had to make do
With plain song.
That did not cause
Consternation
For there was
Nothing wrong
With the vocal
Rendition
With sopranos
And altos
In full flow,
But it is more
Appealing
When the notes
Hit the ceiling
And cascade
Into a fine melody.
Some say he can
Only muster
Doh-Re-Mi
On that organ of his,
We say otherwise
And think he's a master.
When he pulls a lever,
Quavers float in the air,
followed by semi-breves.
Crotchets and minims
Are not far behind.
He's got a real knack
And it is good to know
That our organist
Is back.
