Closing The Gap

This was written for a group exercise.
We were given random lines from an unseen poem and were asked to incorporate them in a composition of our own.
The "borrowed" text appears in bold characters.
Am I walking towards myself
as the mirror seems to suggest
or is the reflection an illusion
and in reality I'm running away
to leave the nightmare behind?
A fragment of flint from a stone
in the wall of the white house
where I live, lies on the ground;
lifeless, like my broken heart.
But happy memories from the past
go some way to closing the gap
between hope and utter despair.

This poem is very well done,
This poem is very well done, Luigi. A very nice balance reminds us despair can be overcome.

An interesting exercise,
An interesting exercise, Luigi, and you have used the so different phrases to somehow connect up, and touch on what is going on to make the reader wonder and think. As Richard says, the last 3 lines give encouragement. Rhiannon
