Doodles

January the first
is the day he was born
so he is a Capricorn
on the zodiac chart.

He practises art
drawing  doodles
of poodles,
the French little dogs,

and of mogs
once sacred in Egypt.
He wrote a script
about a cat

who sat on the mat
twenty-four/seven.
It was heaven
and never mewed

The author, shrewd,
thought he might
sell the script's right
for a film to be made.

it didn't make the grade
so he ate oodles
of pot noodles
which he had in spades.
