Everything But The Kitchen Sink

On many occasions I write verses
About any subject I care to think
But I have never written a poem
Which praises the old kitchen sink.
 
Then I heard Dylan Thomas did it,
Not with a plumb, but with aplomb.
I was surprised and flabbergasted
As though I had been hit by a bomb.
 
I thought that if I could replicate
This feat and eulogise a humble tap,
My reputation would be enhanced;
It'd mean another feather in my cap.
 
I studied many fixtures and fittings,
I perused an ironmonger's catalogue;
Now that I'm thoroughly genned up
I can start to compose this eclogue.

Thanks Jenny. According to his mother he started writing poetry at the age of eight and in addition to the poem about the kitchen sink he wrote one about an onion. Unfortunately she didn't keep them.
I am afraid I wasn't so precocious when I wrote this but I am pleased that it made you smile.
