A Flight of Fantasy

In my youth,
I didn't find it strange
that Clark Kent
used to change
into Superman
in a telephone booth.
I thought it was
the absolute truth.
When not working
for his newspaper
he'd fly from the top
of a skyscraper
to help or rescue
a virtual stranger
who seemed to be
in mortal danger.
I, very often.
was sent to fetch,
from the newsagent,
auntie's “Daily Sketch”
but my search for
another sheet,
“The Daily Planet”,
ended in defeat.
It must be successful,
I figured out,
because every time
it has sold out.
The newsvendor said,
'I must confess,
the only fantasy I sell
is in the national press.”

Superman: Theory and practice:
Superman: Theory and practice: Once when we were kids I got a superman suit for Christmas. Later my younger brother got hold of it he was known for his vivid imagination. Well he put on the suit and climbed up on to the courtyard wall. From there diving up he launched himself super hero style and of course dropped like a stone. As you say, flight of fantasy.
Some scratches and bruises nothing serious but he still hadn't learned his lesson.
A virtual stranger! What is that? I also like “he only fantasy I sell is in the national press” who pays the piper?
We are having power blackouts again and there were terrible floods especially in Kwa-Zulu-Natal it is declared a disaster area. It sounds really really bad but here by us in Pretoria it wasn't as serious although a lot of rain too lately. Could perhaps be climate change.
Hope you had a good easter and with family too, and a wonderful week.
Cheers Liuigi! Tom

Lovely poem, Luigi. I wonder
Lovely poem, Luigi. I wonder where Clark Kent changes these days, now that proper phone booths are getting more and more rare!
