UK heatwave sees temperatures above 40C for first time

I swung a newspaper  
at an annoying mosquito
who tried to stop me 
from enjoying a mojito

It was unmistakable
that he too wanted some
of this cocktail made with 
mint, lime juice, and rum.

A refreshing beverage
to drink in the shade
as in this hot weather
we all weaken and fade.

A record  temperature 
is what we shall have
and we have to adapt
to a permanent heatwave.

Everybody concluded
things have to be sorted
temperatures above 40C 
have so far been reported.

Though we're concerned 
about the climate change
nothing seems to happen
and that's very strange.

A fitting poem for the heat we're experiencing Luigi. All I can say is, I hope I come back as an eskimo in another life, this weather just doesn't agree with me at all.

Take care and I hope you're keeping as cool as possible, but then I think you said you don't mind the heat.

Hi Jenny, I don't know if I could live as an Eskimo. much too cold for me, but I found the current temperature a bit too excessive. I just kept in the shade and drank a lot of water but missed out on the mojito.

I am as fit as the proverbial fiddle even in these rather high temperatures. I thought that a gentle reminder about climate change was due but I doubt that politicians would take any notice of my ramblings.

Maybe if you could send us some warm we can send you some cold. Unreal. All the best Luigi, as teenagers we had a saying "ice is nice stay cool"

I like your 'gentle' reminder about climate change. Very appropriate after the last couple of days.

Thanks for the comment, Kurt. Head of states have heard this kind of reminder many times; they nod their head sympathetically but do nothing concrete to remedy the situation. How many more trees have to be planted to replace those destroyed by fires happening all over because of ever-rising temperatures? How many lives lost?
