My future as a poet
is hanging by a thread.
I am waiting for the Muse
to give me the go-ahead
to compose an ode
from the top of my head.
I should be writing verses
but I draw doodles instead.
The lack of good ideas
is what I mostly dread.
I am used to take the lead
but maybe I should be led.
Just give me some hints,
I hate to be spoon-fed.
I am open to suggestions
- all inhibitions shed -
from any young female
even if newly wed.
I mean no impropriety
as I am well bred
and I have to be careful
on whose toes I tread.
Don’t take any notice
of what people said:
that I need inspiration
can be taken as read.
