Interesting Times

We live in interesting times,
a fact that cannot be denied.
The economists did the sums
and said we're in the doldrums.
Sales are less than expected,
the value of sterling plummets,
inflation has hit the ceiling
though this month is a bit less.
The cost of living indicates
that the country is in a mess.
The poor are getting poorer,
they receive paltry handouts
and promises of lower taxation.
We hear soothing voices saying 
the economy will recover soon
and that we ought not to fret,
but we do because we know
we're not out of the woods yet.

Difficult times although the status of the UK could be seen through the prism of the Queen's funeral today. Estimated 4 billion people will be watching. Half of the population of the planet. Hopefully, as a nation we can get back on track..

That's the paradox, Paul. While the status of the UK has been enhanced by the popularity generated by the stable reign of the late Queen, the economy of this country has taken a downward turn due to unrelated factors, a fate that has affected other countries throughout the world.

Interesting times indeed. This guy told me from there South Africa looks like a little third world circus, well I said you are a first-class circus and I hope you are in the pound seats. And you and the yanks and all have great armies we're one better, we are not a threat to anyone we're no-one's enemy no-one will waste their time on us.
