Life As We Know It

No denying that we live in interesting times
with global unrest and with nuclear threats;
with armed nutcases committing gun crimes
that result very often in innumerable deaths.
It is astonishing that some people still cope
to remain sane and get on with their life,
while for others a sanctuary is the only hope
to survive as they flee oppression and strife.
We’ve had many tyrants removed and killed
by people claiming to be true democrats.
While by their demise everyone was thrilled
they were soon replaced by new autocrats.
We suffered hurricanes and a tropical storm
that caused suffering and a lot of mayhem.
The unpredictable weather is now the norm
and it is global warming that many condemn.
There are heads of state who actually litter
the nation with short and inane information
via social media like Facebook and Twitter
which critics consider to be an aberration.
We must then conclude that life isn’t dull
and there are things that could be worse
but we would have to be out of our skull
to say that our existence is really a curse.

When I look around at what
When I look around at what some people are suffering, it is exactly as you say - how do some of them retain any degree of sanity? Really enjoyed reading this.

I had to start avoiding
I had to start avoiding social media. It was making me mental, Luigi. People need to start listening to own gut instincts instead of following mob. Really enjoyed your take on all the insanity going on around us. Cheers.

You have summed up the madness of modern society
in six very neat nutshells.
Like Rich I worry about some of this madness rubbing off on me.
(I think a little bit did over the weekend)
