Lost in the Crowd (I.P.)

It was Paddington station
where I noticed this tot
who looked bewildered
and rooted to the spot.
For one single moment
I thought it was déjà vu,
he resembled that creature
who came from Peru.
You know of whom I talk,
the one with the hard stare
and a marmalade sandwich,
who appeared out of thin air.
The boy that I had seen
had a fruit lollipop,
I thought the wisest move
was to alert a cop.
To tackle it myself
I didn’t have the nerve,
in these days and age
they may say I’m a perv.
I have a great respect
for the long arm of the law
and, luckily, a female officer
was the first one I saw.
She was very efficient
and soon the child and mother
were happily reunited
hugging one another.
