Love Is In The Air

After a harsh winter
nature is reborn
and for animal and plant
it will be a new dawn.
And human too
will feel the rising sap,
falling quite willing
into a honey trap.
I absolutely agree
about one thing:
that a young man’s fancy
turns to love in spring.
Not lightly, as the poet said,
but with a surge of emotion.
How could I dispute the truth
of this romantic notion,
having myself been
 a lustful adolescent
who, at the thought of intimacy,
became rubescent?
As the troubadours
might have once sung,
when love’s in the air
spring will have sprung.
