Mine was a plea for the preservation
of the Amazon rainforest and its tribes.
The words just came out of my mouth;
they weren't meant to be inflammatory
nor supposed to sound like a diatribe
yet were perceived as a denunciation.

There's concern about climate change
whose causes are discussed at length
and the consequence of deforestation
will add more strength to the argument.
Replanting to replace the trees lost
is essential, I say, irrespective of cost.

The speech that I gave seemed to me
to be balanced and to make sense
but it was deemed to be too intense
and so my delivery boomeranged.
All my efforts to be a keen ecologist
failed and now I'm a bolshie activist.

The Amazon rainforests' wildlife you may stand a chance Luigi but you can forget about it's tribes. The western way of life the greed and yearning for comfort and ease is taking over everywhere. It seems unstoppable. As for the planting of trees you have it spot on.

It is the only solution a machine of nature. Oxygen from carbon dioxide. Failproof.self-sustaining Irrefutable. Plant trees everywhere go mad. Millions of millions of trees. Cheap, easy, almost free. A great investment.

There is one line with smaller typesetting. Not intentional?

Hi Tom, I see that you are in agreement with my opinion and I realise that sometimes I may be preaching to the believers or to the converted to those points of view.
As far as the planting is concerned, I have been told not to succumb to euphoria because there are  circumstances where tree-planting is not appropriate, i.e. in places that are subject to fires or where they can cause soil erosion. I am sure that expert agronomists know what is needed.

P.S. I can't see any smaller typesetting in my text. Can you please tell me which line you referring to?

It was the first line of your second stanza that was in smaller type that would be "There's concern about climate change". Gremlins.

Nicely put, Luigi.  Deforestation seems to be proceeding at an ever faster pace than before, thanks to the policies of various governments.  Let's hope that the reforestation being undertaken will also gather momentum.

I also noticed that the first lines of the second and third verses were in a smaller font.  Maybe something to do with pasting across?

Hi Jane, it looks as if reforestation has taken off at quite a pace, If the Guardian is to be believed, In Ethiopia they have planted in excess of 350, 000, 000 trees in a day.
How very odd that both you and Tom mention smaller fonts as on my screen all the lines look the same size. The font should be Verdana size 12.
I have copied the text from here and in fact the first line shows size 11.2. I have now changed the default font in my document and it should show correctly once I repost it.
Please let me know if it reads alright.
