On my personal page on FB
there's a photo of two ladies
supposedly viewed by me;
it's something I don't recall.
They are scantily dressed
with corsets and garters.
I am not really impressed
by the impudence of it all.
If I look for a book to read
I might search the internet
but I am not likely to need
those undergarments at all.
I feel it's my duty to alert
those who make searches:
they will generate adverts
which will swiftly snowball.
I googled the title of a book
of poetry that I had written
because I wanted a sly look
at how many had been sold.
Right away an ad appeared
on my Facebook's account.
Although it was rather weird
I welcomed the free plug.
I'll watch with an eagle eye
what is shown on the media
and I will want to know why
they need to collect my data.

Those algorithms kick in more
Those algorithms kick in more and more quickly. I've recently bought some new soft furnishings so now I can't move for ads for rugs and cushions. Slightly preferable to when I kept getting suggestions for 'mature' dating sites. Don't know where that one came from! The only mature thing I've ever searched for is Cheddar.
