Not All Roses

Nowadays many people don't feel safe
in an environment that's no longer cosy;
they've lost hope and stopped believing
that everything in the garden is rosy.

They are convinced dangers loom large
and that we are heading towards doom,
that civilization will ultimately perish
and for optimism there isn't any room.

Luckily though there are still idealists
who expect that where there is life
there is scope for a brighter future
and that it's not all trouble and strife.

I am one of them and my own wish list
includes the dream of universal peace.
My strong desire is to see that violence,
hateful resentment and conflicts cease.

If we work together towards a solution,
eradicate poverty and drug addiction,
we will achieve an important victory
and live in a world free from affliction.
