Nothing New Under the Sun

It's not only today:
it's happened before
that people searching
for a new shore
have come to the U.K.
There have been lots
callled the Huguenots
who came from France
looking for the chance
to relocate here.
They were prepared
to live in exile
although the natives
were somewhat hostile
to the newcomers.
Their skills could
be a possible threat
to the employment
and the livelihood
of the inhabitants.
Yet their expertise
might help England
to expand its horizon
and adding value
to the local economy.
Their escape by boat
had a frosty reception;
the nation was hesitant
but, as they were Protestant,
they were given refuge.

Very true, Luigi
The Flemish weavers in the 12th century brought theit skills.
The Polish people were welcomed as friends and heros after WW2 but despised in the 21st century for their work ethic. Many had to leave after the damaging racially driven Brexit vote.

Theory and Practice
Theory and practice. Very well thought through Luigi, and so true. Hypocrisy, always easy to criticise but wait till it comes knocking at your door, watch how quickly you change your story, yes nothing new, it is everywhere and ever there is nothing new the Bible says so too.
Cheers! Tom
