Philately and Numismatics

Lately, philately and numismatics
have taken precedence in my life.
They replaced amateur dramatics
as among the cast there was strife.
Now that I do not tread the boards
I am at peace and can easily relax;
I won’t have to face hostile hordes
always intent on wielding the axe.
My acting triumphs can be written
on the back of a postage stamp.
It was because I had been smitten
by a soubrette who was a vamp.
I was hypnotised, my mind a blur,
couldn’t speak, was lost for words,
I wished to express my love for her
but could not use my vocal chords.
I didn’t have her stamp of approval,
she snuffed out the fire in my loins
and in my search for self-renewal
I turned to philately and old coins.

We're getting old Luigi. I want to take up the model airplanes again just building kits, not even the flying type. No medals for bravery. Well good luck! If I get interesting postage stamps I'll mail them to you, inside an envelope snailmail of course!
Stay well! Mooi bly! Sala ghachle!

Clever use of the I P Luigi.
Clever use of the I P Luigi. The ending set it off nicely rhyming perfectly.

I always love your work and
I always love your work and this piece made me smile. I did the stamp thing at primary school, shortly followed by trainspotting in London. I still remember 'blanking' when I went on stage as Doggberry in Much Ado...fortunatley I nailed it the following night. Don't need the stress now. Writing seems the way forward for this 63 year old man!
Great piece Luigi
