The Phone Rings

The phone rings
as I'm having lunch.
The caller is anonymous
but I have a hunch.

If I answer the call
I know it will be
some sly scammer
trying to trick me.

I lift the receiver:
the message I hear
is coming through
loud and clear.

I am informed
that my account
has been charged
with a large amount.

Click number one
and you'll know more;
or number two 
to learn what is for.

They must think
I was born yesterday,
that I am  a gullible
and easy prey.

They do not know
I am on the ball
and quite capable
to ignore the call.

I've unplugged my landline because of these phone calls. They happen so often, they make the phone pointless. It's very annoying!

You're missing an apostrophe in line 3

My landline has just recently stopped working. Maybe it decided that enough was enough. I think that line three should have read 'the caller is anonymous' rather than needing an apostrophe but has to be changed anyway I'll endeveour to do so. Thanks for your feedback.

It's infuriating, Jenny, having to get up from the table and rush to the phone only to find that it is a cold call. angry
