The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone (I.P.)

When Mrs. Stone travels to Italy
She’ll Be Coming Round The Mountain
and once she arrives in her beloved Rome
she will throw Three Coins in the Fountain.
Her Roman Holiday starts right there
at Fontana di Trevi , the jewel of the city,
and probably end at the Palatine hill;
to say Arrivederci Roma will be such a pity.
She has observed the Lotharios showing off
strutting and flexing their muscular biceps,
climbing and descending the steep slope
of the staircase known as the Spanish Steps.
She will visit the capital and Vatican City
go to St. Peter and the basilica’s dome
always flattered and hotly pursued
and she’ll dream of A Romance in Rome.
She had been warned that When in Rome
her bum could be pinched for evermore
and the perpetrators excuse themselves
just by declaring, ‘My dear, That’s Amore’
But not one Romeo has yet made a pass,
she thinks that the caution was a chimera:
of all the sentences that have been uttered
the most audacious has been Buona Sera.

This reminds me of that
This reminds me of that lovely old film 'Summertime' with Katharine Hepburn. Poor Mrs Stone, but at least she saw the sights you evoked so well.
