I hear that a car deodorant
has been named after me;
it may be an indirect hint
but the reason I fail to see.
has been named after me;
it may be an indirect hint
but the reason I fail to see.
That it refers to bad odors
is obvious, I can see that,
yet it seems too personal
and therefore I smell a rat.

But it may mean my name
is a synonym for fragrance
and if that is what it implies
I've no cause for grievance.

I've often been in bad odor
with men full of crass vanity
when I saw in their manners
a distinct odor of sanctity.

The truth' has been there
right under our very noses:
we come out, despite our
aroma, smelling of roses.
