When I met you

I fell under

your spell
(me).

I thought I knew

you well

and would not have believed

that you were on the make.

Yet, you took my money

and left me penniless

for goodness sake!

I must have been asleep or dreaming

but now am fully awake

and see you for what you are:

a venomous reptile.

You are nothing

but a snake in the grass

and I'm, if not naive, at least an ass.

You are not wrong, Rhiannon. It was a bit of a fiddle that took me some time to figure out and execute. I would have liked to have shown the entire poem in that graphic form but did not succeed.
Still don't know if it meets the brief, though.

Same here, Jenny, I haven't tried this before. It seems to add something to the piece somehow. Glad you like this particular construction and I shall be interested to hear what other readers think.

Wow! It's eye catching and hypnotic in equal measure. How the devil did you do the coil effect?

It is a free software I came across when I was coming to terms with visual poetry, Ray. The effect is perhaps better than my other try but again the verses are not all that brilliant, I am afraid. Difficult to harmonize text and images.
